2026 Municipal Election


There is a Municipal Election on Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2026. Voters will elect Rural Municipality of Lac du Bonnet Reeve and Council on this date.


Voting dates and locations:

  • Sunday, Oct. 4, 2026: RM of Lac du Bonnet office, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2026: Lac du Bonnet Legion Branch #164, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Sunday, Oct. 18, 2026: RM of Lac du Bonnet office, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Who can vote?
 
Eligibility of resident (primary residence):
1. A Canadian citizen and 18 years of age as of Election Day
2. A resident of the municipality/town on Election Day, and has been so for at least 6 months before Election Day (April 26, 2026)
 
Eligibility on non-resident:
1. A Canadian citizen and 18 years of age as of Election Day

2. A registered owner of land in the municipality or Local Urban District for at least six months on Election Day. If there are more than two non-resident property owners for a single property, a maximum of two can vote in a municipal election. In order to vote, each voter must obtain written consent from the majority of the registered property owners, and file this with the Senior Election Official.

Eligibility of Company Owned Property:

The owners of a corporation or a company do not quality to vote in a municipal election as non-resident owners. Unless you are a resident of the municipality, your property must be registered in your name and not in the name of a corporation before you qualify to vote.

Filing of election finance statements for all candidates: 

No later than 210 days after the election (May 26, 2027)
