2026 Municipal Election


There is a Municipal Election on Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2026. Voters will elect Rural Municipality of Lac du Bonnet Reeve and Council on this date.


Voting dates and locations:

RM of Lac du Bonnet Election day voting:
  • Lac du Bonnet Legion Branch #164, 45 McArthur Ave, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
RM of Lac du Bonnet advance polls:
  • Sunday, Oct. 4, 2026: RM of Lac du Bonnet office, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2026: Lac du Bonnet Legion Branch #164, 45 McArthur Ave, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Sunday, Oct. 18, 2026: RM of Lac du Bonnet office, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Voter information:
 
Voter eligibility of resident (primary residence):
1. A Canadian citizen and 18 years of age as of Election Day
2. A resident of the municipality/town on Election Day, and has been so for at least 6 months before Election Day (April 26, 2026)
 
Eligibility of non-resident:
1. A Canadian citizen and 18 years of age as of Election Day

2. A registered owner of land in the municipality or Local Urban District for at least six months on Election Day. If there are more than two non-resident property owners for a single property, a maximum of two can vote in a municipal election. In order to vote, each voter must obtain written consent from the majority of the registered property owners, and file this with the Senior Election Official.

Eligibility of Company Owned Property: 
The owners of a corporation or a company do not quality to vote in a municipal election as non-resident owners. Unless you are a resident of the municipality, your property must be registered in your name and not in the name of a corporation before you qualify to vote.

Mail-in ballots: You must apply in writing in order to vote by mail. Send your written request or e-mail along with a photo ID, to the Senior Election Official (SEO) no later than Oct. 15, 2026. You will be provided with instructions and requirements in order to vote by mail. If you choose to vote by mail, you will not be permitted to vote in person.

Election workers required: RM and Town of Lac du Bonnet are seeking election officials for the 2026 Municipal Election. Workers must be available on Election Day (October 28, 2026) for up to 14 hours and attend a training information session prior to the election. Candidate disclosures of offenses:

Candidates' nomination papers are required to disclose any offences that they have pleaded guilty to, or been found guilty of, under the Criminal Code (Canada), the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (Canada), the Income Tax Act (Canada), or the Income Tax Act of Manitoba. These disclosures must be published on the local authority's website by the Senior Election Official.

Candidates are not required to disclose an offence under the Youth Criminal Justice Act (Canada), the Young Offenders Act (Canada), or an offence for which they were granted a pardon under section 748 of the Criminal Code (Canada).
